Cuttack: The body of a young woman was found floating in the Mahanadi river near Anandapur under Khuntuni area of Odisha’s Cuttack district on Monday.
Locals spotted the body floating in the river near Mundali bridge and informed the police who along with fire services personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation. The body was recovered and efforts are on to ascertain the identity of the deceased woman, according to preliminary reports.
Sources said a woman from Sundarpada area of Bhubaneswar had gone missing after abandoning her scooter on the Mundali barrage two days ago, and it is suspected that it could be her body.
Police said the identity of the body would be ascertained after the family members of the missing woman identify it. The woman’s family members have identified the scooter and said that the missing woman was from Sundarpada area of Bhubaneswar. She was studying in a private college, police said.
