Bhadrak: The relatives of a woman, who died after childbirth, allegedly ransacked a private nursing home accusing the doctors of negligence in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
According to sources, the woman, Debasmita Jena of Asurali under Dhamnagar police station in the district, was admitted to Padhi Nursing Home at Gandhi Padia in Bhadrak town following labour pain on Sunday night.
Debasmita gave birth to a baby girl through caesarean section in the nursing home at around 3 am on Monday. But she succumbed in the afternoon, leading her family to suspect the post-delivery treatment.
They accused the doctors of not taking proper care of Debasmita after the delivery. Even as the nursing home staff tried to explain the situation and pacify them, they were not convinced.
Some of the agitated relatives of Debasmita went on a rampage inside the nursing home. They damaged the furniture and also the car of a doctor parked outside.
On being informed, a team from Bhadrak Town police station went to the nursing home and tried to being the situation under control. The relatives demanded adequate compensation for Debasmita’s family to look after her son and daughter.
