Angul: Mutilated body of a woman was found on the railway track in Odisha’s Angul district on Saturday.
While it was suspected that the woman might have died by suicide, investigation by the police is in progress to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident near Boinda railway station, reports said.
The woman has been identified Gitanjali Kandhia, who was a resident of Kushabania slum area in Boinda.
Gitanjali had gone out of her house on Friday night but did not return. The family members undertook a search operation but failed to trace her. Some local residents spotted a mutilated body on the railway track on Saturday morning and informed the police.
Police rushed to the site, recovered body of the woman and identified her. Probe is under way to ascertain the exact reason behind the woman’s death.
