Berhampur: Floor cleaning pads and wipers, produced by a women self-help group (SHG) in Odisha’s Berhampur city in Ganjam district will now be available in market for the consumers.
Berhampur MLA Bikram Kumar Panda inaugurated the production unit of the SHG, Maa Vimala, at Tota Sahi of Gosaninuagaon under Ward 26 of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) on Monday. The SHG has tied up with Ormas, MKCG Medical College and Hospital and City Hospital besides different malls in the city for marketing its floor cleaning products.
Lauding the efforts of the SHG, the MLA said it is a new step in the direction of women empowerment initiative of the state government.
BeM corporator Dhiresh Dabat called upon the people to cooperate with the SHG in its efforts to make the women members financially independent. Berhampur mayor Sanghamitra Dalei and deputy mayor E Bibek Reddy were also present at the event.
