As per information, women members of around eight self help groups (SHGs) staged a protest in a novel way in Dalanga panchayat area against illegal sale of liquor.
The protesters stormed the house of a trader who allegedly sells liquor in the area in an illegal manner. The women took out liquor bottles from the house and destroyed the stock asserting that no illegal sale of alcohol will be allowed in the village.
Claiming that the trader has been illegally selling liquor for the last over three years, the women said police failed to take any action against the man despite repeated complaints lodged by the villagers against him.
