Jatni: A group of women vandalized a liquor shop located at Machha Bazaar in Jatni of Khurda district on Friday.
The aggrieved women belonging to Chanagada panchayat in the district destroyed a large number of liquor bottles kept inside the shop.
“The shop owner was selling liquor illegally in the area. Existence of the liquor shop has affected the family lives of the local residents. Despite complaints on several occasions, the officials concerned have failed to shut down the shop. Therefore, we decided to take the matter into our own hands”, one of the agitators said.
Adequate police personnel were rushed to the spot to prevent any untoward incident in the locality.
