Bhubaneswar: A host of functions are organised in the Capital city to celebrate Women’s Day and honour achievers in different fields.
Like every year, Parichay Foundation honoured women achievers at 9th Aarya Awards function in the city. This year 19 women were recognised for their services to the society.
Renowned Odissi dancer Kumkum Mohanty was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award at a glittering function in a hotel on Saturday evening.
The other awardees are: Executive Director of Sambad Tanaya Patnaik (entrepreneur) and writer Gayatribala Panda (Literature), Vijaya Amujure (Art & Culture), Gitanjali Rout & Bijeta Rana (Social Work), Sasmita Lenka (Wildlife Conservation), Gita Das (NRO), Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini (Education & Research), Lopita Mishra & Nazia Alam (Music), Bhagyashree Sahoo & Amita Singh (Special Citation), Chinmayee Bhuyan & Jayanti Behera (Sports), Dr. Lotus Mishra (Medical Science), Rhea Reshma Bari (Entertainment), Sucharita Rath (Special Mention) and Jayanti Baruda (Media).
Odisha Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro inaugurated the awards function in the presence of Kathak dancer Shovana Narayan, former Lok Sabha member Prasanna Patasani, Kandhamal MP Achyuta Samanta and OSHB chairperson Priyadarshi Mishra. Social activist Namrata Chadha and Parichay’s founder Rojalin Patasani were also present.
