Bhubaneswar: A fine all-round performance helped Odisha beat Saurashtra by 4 wickets in their Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy fixture at Puducherry on Friday.
It was Odisha’s first win in Group A, having lost 2, while 2 games were abandoned as no-result. With 8 points, Odisha are currently 6th in the 8-team group with matches against Madhya Pradesh (Jan 14) and Chandigarh (Jan 16) to follow.
Rameswari Naik (3/17) and Priyanka Priyadarshini (3/21) proved to be unplayable for Saurashtra batters as they managed a modest 101/9 in 50 overs.
Sarita Meher then played a stellar role with the bat after Odisha had been reduced to 21/3. Sarita remained unbeaten on 43, with handy support from Rasanara Parwin (18) and Sushree Dibyadarshini (12*) as Odisha achieved their target with almost 13 overs to spare.
Brief scores: Saurashtra 101 in 38.2 overs (Riddhi Ruparel 30; Rameswari Naik 3/17, Priyanka Priyadarshini 3/21). Odisha 105/6 in 37.1 overs (Sarita Meher 43 not out; N Chavda 3/15).
