Bhubaneswar: All-rounder Sushree Dibyadarshini from Odisha has found a place in the 15-member East Zone squad for BCCI Senior Women Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy.
The inter-zonal tournament of five three-day matches will be played in Pune between March 28 and April 11. It will also mark the return of red-ball cricket for women in India’s domestic calendar after six years.
Sushree trains under coach Khirod Behera at Jagruti Cricket Academy in Bhubaneswar and she is the lone player from Odisha in squad. Besides her, there are six players from Bengal, four from Jharkhand, two from Tripura and one each from Assam and Bihar.
The tournament will begin right after the ongoing Women’s Premier League, which ends on March 17.
The matches being hosted by the Maharashtra Cricket Association will kick start from March 28 with the East Zone vs North East Zone and West Zone vs Central Zone fixtures. North Zone and South Zone have been placed in the semi-finals straightaway following a draw of lots, and will meet the winners of the first two games from April 3. The final will be played from April 9.
They will be competing in a series of five matches to be played across three days each, which is a day more than the two-day games played in the 2018 season.
