You have heard about women giving birth on trains. But what about a delivery on a military plane ferrying Afghan refugees?
According to the US military, an Afghan woman gave birth aboard an Air Force C-17 aircraft that was flying from Middle East to Ramstein air base in Germany.
The air base is being used as a transit post for people who are being evacuated en masse from Afghanistan.
Air Mobility Command of US military said that the woman started having complications during the flight on Saturday.
“The aircraft commander decided to descend in altitude to increase air pressure in the aircraft, which helped stabilise and save the mother’s life,” Air Mobility Command tweeted along with pictures post landing of the plane.
“On landing, Airmen from the 86th MDG came aboard and delivered the child in the cargo bay of the aircraft,” they further said.
The baby girl and mother were shifted to a nearby medical facility and are in good condition.
