Bhubaneswar: Work on the proposed flyover on the busy Jaydev Vihar-Nandankanan Road in Odisha capital will commence soon, Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan informed on Tuesday.
“The state government has given in-principle approval to the project to facilitate smooth management of city traffic and decongest roads and the technical work will soon begin,” he told reporters.
Elaborating further, the Minister said that a new flyover will be built connecting with the one on the National Highway (NH)-16 at Jayadev Vihar and it will drop at Nandankanan Chhak. “There will be escape ways at major junctions to allow commuters travelling on the flyover to take the service roads. It has been designed keeping the convenience of commuters in mind. The four-lane road will be built over the existing road. The elevated road will be the lifeline of Bhubaneswar in the coming days,” he said.
Harichandan clarified that there are no plans to displace people by acquiring land on either side of the road.
He added that the government has set a target to complete major portion of Jayadev Vihar-Nandankanan flyover project by 2027-28 fiscal.
