Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday heaped praises on the state police for its dignified and efficient efforts in enforcing the lockdown to combat COVID-19.
“I would like to appreciate all of you for the hard work you and your teams have put in the last 3 months for creating awareness amongst people and enforcing the lockdown. I must mention here that there was so much restrain and dignified conduct in the whole process. People at large saw a ‘human face’ in police actions,” the CM said.
“My appeal for ‘zero walking inside Odisha’ for interstate migrants was implemented in letter and spirit because of systematic and coordinated hard work,” he added.
The CM also appreciated the “good work” done by Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and Odisha Fire Service in relief and restoration operations in neighbouring West Bengal after super cyclone Amphan.
“I would like to mention here that despite the threat of coronavirus, our ODRAF and Fire Services personnel faced the situation boldly and helped people in distress in Kolkata. Your service will be an inspiration for others and the entire country has appreciated the work done,” he said.
Urging the forces to carry forward the good work, the CM added, “The Corona war is not yet over. We should be very alert and face the situation even more professionally at the same time with human face.”
He also asked the DGP to try and rationalise the available manpower. “I would like the DGP to prepare an action plan to make more and more manpower available at the police station level. This may be done within a fortnight with proper planning,” he said.
