Rourkela: A boiler operator died in a mishap in Shree Ganesh Sponge Factory in the city on Thursday.
According to sources, the boiler operator, identified as Jogesh Dera of Sector-2 in the city, along with a colleague climbed atop the bunker on the premises of the factory to carry out repair works. As the factory had remained closed due to the shutdown, there were some glitches in the bunker.
After reaching the top of the bunker, Jogesh slipped and fell down sustaining grievous injuries. With the help of other workers, he was rescued from the bunker and admitted in Jayaprakash Hospital in Vedvyas.
As the condition of Jogesh deteriorated, he was shifted to ESIC Model Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
