Worker Killed, 4 Critical In Mishap During House Construction In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: A worker was killed and four others sustained critical injuries after the centring of an under-construction house collapsed at a village in Golanthara area of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday.

As per preliminary information, the mishap took place when the workers were busy at the construction site at Sorala village under Golantharaa police station limits in the morning.

The deceased has been identified as Debaraj Jani (55), who hailed from the same area.

The injured have been rushed to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for treatment. Their condition was stated to be critical.

Sources said that five labourers were engaged in opening the centring when a big parch of the structure caved in and fell on them.

The five were rescued and taken to the hospital by an ambulance. While Jani was declared dead, the other four are undergoing treatment in critical condition.
