Worker Loses Hand In Conveyor Belt Of Paper Mill In Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada: A worker lost his hand as it got trapped in the conveyor belt of a paper mill in the district on Tuesday nigh.

According to sources, the incident took place when the worker, identified as Hiralal Yadav, a contractual labourer of Kamal Singh Private Company, was working in JK Paper Mill on behalf of his company.

During the work, Hiralal’s left hand reportedly got stuck in the conveyor belt as it suddenly stopped. By the time other workers came to his rescue, his hand had already been caught in the sharp blade of the conveyor, the sources said.

Later, Fire personnel rescued him and admitted to the health centre of JK Paper Mill. He was shifted to Rayagada Sadar Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Meanwhile, the JK Paper Mill Workers’ Association has demanded compensation for the family of Hiralal.
