Bhubaneswar: A marathon to create awareness on cancer was flagged off from the premises of Cancer Centre Block of Apollo Hospitals, here.
CMD of NALCO Sridhar Patra and Central Region CEO of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited Sudhir M Diggikar flagged off the 10 km marathon in the presence of Director Medical Services cum Chief Operating Officer of Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar, Dr. Alok Srivastava.
The participants went through major intersections of the city including Vani Vihar, Rupali Square, Ram Mandir square, Housing Board square and Acharya Vihar before culminating at the centre.
The idea was to spread as much awareness as possible towards the dreaded disease and harping on the fact that early detection is the key.
Around 100 participants walked from Apollo Hospitals to create awareness on cancer prevention and sensitise people on the theme “Winning over Cancer Together”.
World Cancer Day is celebrated every year across the globe on February 4. By observing this day as an important health day, Apollo Hospitals aims to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness and education about cancer.
