World Cup Final: India Lose Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer In Quick Succession

Ahmedabad: India found themselves in trouble, losing Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer in quick succession, at the ICC One-Day International (ODI) World Cup 2023 final at Narendra Modi Stadium here on Sunday.

A stunning catch while running backwards by Travis Head saw India skipper Rohit Sharma walk back to the pavilion for 47, which included three sixes and four fours, while looking to accelerate the run rate. Shreyas Iyer started off with a four against Glenn Maxwell but an outside edge off Pat Cummins saw him give an easy catch to Josh Inglis.

Australia clipped the two wickets in the space of five balls, which saw India slump to 81-3. India had earlier lost Shubman Gill, who got caught at mid-on while trying a pull shot.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are now at the crease.

Australia won the toss and decided to field first in the final of the Cricket World Cup. Both India and Australia have chosen to go into the final with unchanged teams.
