Bhubaneswar: A never-say-die South Korea edged out 2016 Olympic champions Argentina in a penalty shootout to enter the World Cup Hockey 2023 quarterfinals.
In an edge-of-the-seat thriller, Koreans showed great spirit to fight back repeatedly and force a 5-5 tie in regulation time.
In the shootout, the Korean goalkeeper pulled off two saves to help the red army clinch it 3-2. They will be the only team to feature in the quarterfinals, where they will face The Netherlands on January 25.
Korea completed the quarterfinal lineup after Germany thumped France 5-1 earlier in the day at Kalinga Stadium here in the third Crossover contest.
India were knocked out by lower-ranked New Zealand in the second Crossover fixture on Sunday.
