World Cup: India Skipper Rohit Sharma Clean Bowled On 2nd Ball Against Sri Lanka

Mumbai: Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai was stunned as Rohit Sharma began the long walk back after being clean bowled by Sri Lankan left-arm seamer Dilshan Madushanka on the second ball of the match in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 on Thursday.

Rohit, who so far played an attacking cricket in World Cup 2023, started off on a similar note against with a beautiful four, but Madushanka made a comeback on the next ball by dismissing the Indian skipper on 4 runs.

Currently, Virat Kohli and opener Shubman Gill are trying stabilise Indian innings after early wicket.

Notably, Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis won the toss and invited India to bat in what is a rematch of the 2011 World Cup final at the same stadium. Rohit then said that they would have batted first if they had won the toss.

While India went into the match with its winning combination, Sri Lanka made one change with Dushan Hemantha replacing Dhananjaya de Silva.
