Pune: A Virat Kohli masterclass flattened Bangladesh and guided Team India to their fourth win in as many matches in the ODI World Cup.
Having pulled back Bangladesh from a promising start of 93/0 in the 15th over to restrict them to 256/8 after 50 overs, India got off to a blazing start through Rohit Sharma (48 off 40 balls, 7×4, 2×6) and Shubman Gill (53 off 55, 5×4, 2×6).
After their departure, King Kohli took over. He batted fluently on a decent pitch and paced his innings well, scoring the last 20 runs in the chase to reach the three-figure landmark with a six.
It was Kohli’s 48th century in ODIs and 78th in international cricket.
India and New Zealand, the only unbeaten teams, face off in a top-of-the-table clash on October 22 at Dharamsala.
Brief scores: Bangladesh 256/8 in 50 overs (Litton Das 66, Tanzid Hasan 51; Jasprit Bumrah 2/41, Ravindra Jadeja 2/38); India 261/3 in 41.3 overs (Virat Kohli 103*, Shubman Gill 53, Rohit Sharma 48, KL Rahul 34*; Mehidy Hasan Miraz 2/47).
