Puri: Thw UN Environment Programme (UNEP) praised a sand art created by internationally acclaimed artist Sudarsan Pattnaik to celebrate World Environment Day on Saturday.
UNEP retweeted an image of the sand art on Puri beach with a message of “Reimagine, Recreate and Restore”, and wrote, “Thank you international sand artist @sudarsansand for this beautiful contribution to #GenerationRestoration”.
In his sand art, Pattnaik has also given message that with safe environment, people can lead a healthy life.
Odisha-born sand artist Manas Kumar Sahoo also created a sand art on Puri beach on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Sahoo has given emphasis on ‘Eco-system Restoration’ through his art. He portrayed planting of trees and how Mother Earth is can be full of greenery to make the environment beautiful.
According to the artist, it took him around six hours to carve this 20-foot-wide sand art. It took 15 tons of sand to create it, he added.
