Puri: As part of the World Heritage Week celebrations, entry to monuments and sites protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in Odisha and all other states will be free on Saturday.
ASI made the announcement through its official Twitter account on Friday and wrote “Entry will be free for all at ASI Government of India monuments on November 19 to mark the commencement of World Heritage Week.”
Tourists need not book a ticket to visit the 46 centrally protected monuments under ASI in Odisha including Konark Sun temple in Puri, along with Udaygiri and Khandagiri caves in Bhubaneswar.
Notably, the total number of ASI-protected monuments in the entire country is 3600, of which 116 across 19 states are ticketed.
It is pertinent to mention here that entry to the Taj Mahal in Agra shall also remain free on Saturday except for the main Mausoleum. Visitors will be allowed to visit the main Mausoleum only with a requisite entry ticket, added ASI in its tweet.
