Bhubaneswar: As part of the first World Odia Language Conference being held in Bhubaneswar from February 3, KIIT University is set to host a poets’ conclave.
The conclave would be organised in collaboration with the department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture of the Odisha government.
The three-day World Odia Language Conference is a celebration of the rich history, evolution and continuity of Odia, one of the classical Indian languages. The event has generated tremendous enthusiasm among all Odia people across the world, sources said.
Founder of KIIT and KISS has been overseeing the preparation for the conclave of poets with a focus on extending the best hospitality to all the participants. He has congratulated the government for this wholesome initiative of celebrating the richness of the exquisite Odia language.
The meet will discuss steps required for making Odia language more popular.
Over 400 poets from across the state and outside are expected to participate in the conclave. The opening day of the meet will feature intellectual dialogues, addressing the evolution and significance of Odia poetry in the contemporary era. Poets will reflect on their transformative role of poetry in shaping the society and importance of translation.
