In what is set to be recognized as a world record, a South African woman has reportedly given birth to 10 babies.
According to a report in Pretoria News, the 37-year-old Gosiame Thamara Sithole delivered seven boys and three girls, which is set to rewrite Guinness World Records for most children delivered at a single birth to have survived.
BBC reported that Guinness World Records is confirming the claim.
The woman’s husband was quoted as saying by local media that doctors had detected eight babies during USG scans, but she actually delivered 10 healthy kids.
Sithole had earlier given birth to twins, who are now six years old.
The record currently is held by an American woman named Nadya Suleman, who gave birth to six boys and two girls in California in 2009.
