World TB Day: Artist Creates Sand Sculpture In Puri; Totally Curable Disease, Says Expert

Puri: Tuberculosis (TB) is a totally curable disease, if the patients goes for treatment from initial stage and takes the medicines sincerely, said Dr Sudarshan Pothal, Head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Shree Jagannath Medical College, Puri.

Speaking on the sideline of a sand sculpture created by artist Manas Kumar Sahoo on sea beach near Baliapanda Light House in the town on Wednesday to promote awareness on TB, Dr Pothal said, “I want to assure the TB patients that the disease as it is 100% curable and they do not have to be afraid of it. They have to take all the prescribed medicines and undergo the treatment strictly to get cured.”

Sahoo has created the sand sculpture with the message that one can get rid of TB disease completely by treating it in time. The message reads “Invest To End TB. Save Lives”.

Manas has used 15 tons of sand to create the sculpture is 15 feet wide. It took him around 7 hours to create the sculpture.
