Washington: The richest man on earth Jeff Bezos landed in space on Blue Origin’s first human mission on Tuesday.
“A very happy group of people in this capsule,” Bezos was quoted as saying by news agency AFP. The spaceship touched down in the west Texas desert after a 10-minute hop to the Karman line and back.
The four-member crew was seen exchanging high-fives and hugging family members that came to meet them at the landing site.
It may be recalled that the New Shepard capsule managed to reach an altitude of 66.5 miles (107 kilometres), where the passengers experienced weightlessness and admired the earth’s curve.
“It’s dark up here,” female aviator Wally Funk, who accompanied Bezos, his brother and 18-year-old Dutchman Oliver Daemen told the news agency. Daemen became the youngest ever astronaut.
