Jaipur: One of the highlights of India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations was the Vande Mataram.
The country’s National Song was played for the first time at Red Fort on I-Day. The entire six stanzas were rendered on Saturday at the grand event to commemorate 150 years of the ‘Vande Mataram’, which as written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875.
Even as Vande Mataram was sung in states across the country, there was a blip in Jaipur.
After Rajasthan state BJP president Madan Rathore unfurled the National Flag at the I-Day programme organised at the party office in Badi Chaupar, the National Song was played with a different music instead of its original version.
The organisers tried to rectify the error, but the incident had already been recorded by those present and on cameras.
Rathore had to apologise for the incorrect rendition of Vande Mataram, attributing it to a “technical and human error on the part of the team managing the programme”.
He told the media the mistake should not have happened.
