New Delhi: Xiaomi on Friday launched a new lifestyle product — a T-shirt made of 100 per cent recyclable plastic. Named Mi Eco Active T-Shirt, it is available on its crowdfunding site and priced at Rs 999.
Xiaomi claims the T-shirt is skin-friendly and is designed for fitness sessions.
“At Mi India, we are cognizant of our responsibility towards the environment and realize the need for an eco-friendly lifestyle. We have actively worked towards creating merchandise that not only offers optimal breathability but is ingeniously designed to reduce waste by using discarded PET bottles to manufacture the T-shirts that can be further recycled too,” said Raghu Reddy, Chief Business Officer, Xiaomi India.
The T-shirt is made in India, the company claims. It has a moisture-wicking system that helps absorb moisture quickly and remains relatively dry during intense workout sessions too.
The manufacturing process also produces 70 per cent lesser carbon emissions and saves 2,600 litres of water in comparison to regular cotton T-shirts. Furthering the eco-appeal, the tags have holy basil seeds which can be planted.
The recycled polyester can be further recycled, Xiaomi said.
It is available only in white colour now.
