Smartphone sales in India grew by 7 per cent Year-on-Year (YoY) in both Q4 2019 and 2019. Xiaomi maintained the top spot, while Vivo entered the 2nd place for Q4 2019 for the first time.
Vivo, which has gained considerable market share of 76 per cent YoY growth, is going strong due to its budget phones and offline presence where it had beaten both Xiaomi and Samsung in November 2019. Vivo is currently present in over 70,000 retail outlets.
Xiaomi’s market share is 27 per cent, while Vivo has 21 per cent. Samsung is third with 19 per cent market share, revealed Counterpoint Research. At 4th and 5th positions were Oppo (12 per cent) and Realme(8 per cent) respectively.
Apple also stood as one of the fastest-growing brands in Q4 2019.
