New Delhi: Yamaha on Friday launched the MT-15 in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.36 lakh, Rs 3000 cheaper than the R15 V3.0. With styling inspired from the MT-09 superbike, the mechanicals in the MT-15 are from the YZF-R15 V3.0.
It is powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected motor that produces 19.3hp at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm of torque at 8,500rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch.
It shares the same deltabox frame as the R15 along with a rear monoshock. It has a single-channel ABS unlike the dual-channel unit on the R15 V3.0. It weighs 138kg.
The MT-15 will compete with TVS Apache RTR 200 4V ABS (Rs 1.11 lakh), Bajaj Pulsar NS200 ABS (Rs 1.12 lakh), KTM 125 Duke (Rs 1.18 lakh) as well as base end Royal Enfields.
