Mumbai: Actress Yami Gautam’s latest release ‘Haq’, which got embroiled in controversies before its release, has kept moviegoers hooked and is doing quite well at the box office.
Viewers are not only impressed with the movie but they are lauding Yami’s performance, calling it National award-worthy.
Overwhelmed with the love and appreciation received from the audiences, Yami, in an interview with Hindustan Times shared, “I’m only imagining the headlines out of this because I have no idea how to answer this question. I’m really trying to be so careful and measured. I don’t want to sound like anything that I’m not.”
“I have, and it’s my audience saying it. So, I think that in itself is a really big thing for me. I’m here because of them and, of course, the belief of certain directors in me when probably not many believed. I don’t go to any award functions, with all due respect to them,” the actress added.
Speaking about the box-office response, Yami said: “The power of word of mouth. No foul play or any gimmicks. Straight from our hearts to the audience. Even from a trade and media perspective, I feel a lot of positivity that they want a film like Haq to be a success. It’s a rarity, and I shall cherish this moment for life.”
Produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, ‘Haq’ is inspired by the infamous Shah Bano’s triple talaq case.
The film also stars Emraan Hashmi, Sheeba Chaddha and Vartika Singh in powerful roles.
