Year-Ender 2022: Glorious Moments Of Indian Sports

We have reached the end of the year 2022. Like in all fields, this year there was some excitement in the field of sports. There is no doubt that India has given excellent performance, especially in the sports arena. From the Commonwealth Games to the Thomas Cup, the Indian Tricolour flag was hoisted everywhere. So, let’s take a look at the unforgettable moments in Indian sports in 2022.

Team India wins Under-19 World Cup: In the Under-19 World Cup held in 2022, Team India junior beat England by 4 wickets in the final and became the champion. This is the only title won by Team India in any ICC tournament in the last two years.

Silver Medal for Women’s Hockey team: The Indian women’s cricket team won the silver medal for the first time at the Commonwealth Games. Team India women, who were hoping for gold, lost against Australia in the final and had to be satisfied with the silver medal.

Thomas Cup champion: Apart from cricket, India’s performance in badminton was excellent. In 2022, the men’s badminton team made history by winning the Thomas Cup for the first time.

Gujarat Titans at IPL:

Gujarat Titans, who made their debut in the IPL, created history by winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) title. The team achieved this feat under the leadership of Hardik Pandya.

World Boxing Championship: India’s star female boxer Nikhat Zareen created another history by winning a gold medal at the World Boxing Championship this year.

Silver for ‘Golden Boy’: Neeraj Chopra, who brought India a gold medal in the javelin throw at the Olympics, created a new history by winning a silver medal at the World Athletics Championships.

Chess Olympiad: This is the first time that India hosted the 44th edition of the Chess Olympiad, which has a history of 98 years. 350 teams from 346 countries participated in this chess competition held in Chennai.

Equal Pay Policy: This year the Indian Cricket Council took a historic step by announcing pay parity for women cricketers. Secretary Jay Shah announced that all women cricketers contracted with the board will be paid the same match fee paid to their male counterparts across the three formats.

Commonwealth Games: India’s performance in the 2022 Commonwealth Games was brilliant. Indian athletes created history by winning a total of 61 medals, including 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze medals.
