Streaming platforms into their own during the pandemic with shows like The Sacred Games, Scam 1992, Patal Lok, Special Ops, Arya, The Family Man, Four More Shots and many more in regional languages too. They continued their successful run in 2022 with sequels and also new, interesting ones.

Staying afloat was the big challenge but they realised that with such a massive growth in consumption, they had to up their game in terms of content and rework their strategies. Most of them set the ball rolling by making second seasons of their much-loved shows and also adding novelty by featuring older stars like Madhuri Dixit, Raveena Tandon, Juhi Chawla and Sonali Bendre in shows such as The Fame Game, The Broken News, Hush Hush etc.

In the midst of many successful shows, here are some that made a mark.

Ghar Waapsi (Disney+ Hotstar)
The heartwarming story of Shekhar (Vishal Vashishtha) who returns to his hometown Indore and struggles to feel any sense of belonging. Ultimately, he realises the life he’d envisioned for himself in the city is actually a distraction from the man he really is.

Guilty Minds (Prime Video)
This legal drama starring Shriya Pilgaonkar and Varun Mitra raised the bar for streaming shows. It was both intelligent and engaging and had textural authenticity.

Masaba Masaba, Season 2 (Netflix)
It endeared itself to audiences in the second season with heartwarming performances by the mother-daughter duo of Neena Gupta and Masaba. Gupta is cast in a show with an ex-flame played deftly by Ram Kapoor, while Masaba finds her priorities.

Panchayat, Season 2 (Prime Video)

It continued the languid pace of Season 1 with Abhishek (Jitendra Kumar) facing new challenges. Dubey is the new political and a road needs to be built. An election is on the horizon. Raghubir Yadav, Chandan Roy, Neena Gupta and especially Faisal Malik as Prahlad continue to impress.

Rocket Boys (SonyLIV)

Rocket Boys, written and directed by Abhay Pannu, is a feast of emotions. The show is a soaring, engaging drama of two friends, Homi Bhabha (Jim Sarbh) and Vikram Sarabhai (Ishwak Singh), busy making their personal missions into a national cause. The brilliant performances of the two lead actors brought to life these legendary figures.
