Yearender 2024: Celebrity Divorces & Break-Ups That Left Fans Heartbroken

Bhubaneswar: The year that is about to pass us by saw several celebrity divorces and break-ups, which left fans heartbroken — from actor Arjun Kapoor to celebrated music composer A.R. Rahman, the list is quite long.

Here is a look at some of the celebrity couples who fell out of love and parted ways in 2024:

1. Hardik Pandya and Natasa Stankovic

For months, the couple dropped cryptic posts on social media hinting trouble in their paradise. Finally, on July 18, Hardik and Natasa officially announced their separation to end their four-year marriage.

The couple, who had tied the knot on May 31, 2020, will be co-parenting their son Agastya.

2. Esha Deol And Bharat Takhtani

Actress Esha Deol, daughter of Dharmendra and Hema Malini, announced separation from businessman husband Bharat Takhtani on February 7. Married for 11 years, the couple has two daughters — Radhya and Miraya.

3. Urmila Matondkar and Mohsin Mir

Actress Urmila Matondkar filed for divorce from her Kashmiri businessman husband Mohsin Akhtar Mir in September. The couple was married for eight years before parting ways.

4. Dalljiet Kaur and Nikhil Patel

Television actress Dalljiet Kaur and businessman Nikhil Patel’s divorce was one of the most talked-about and ugly ones this year. Dalljiet and Nikhil tied the knot in March 2023 and filed for divorce just 10 months after their marriage. While Dalljiet accused Nikhil of cheating on her, the latter denied getting legally married to the actress.

5. AR Rahman and Saira Banu

Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman’s divorce came as a shock for the industry and fans.

Prominent divorce lawyer Vandana Shah, on behalf of Rahman and Saira, said that the decision to part ways came after “significant emotional strain in their relationship”.

Meanwhile, gossipmongers linked Rahman’s divorce to bassist Mohini Dey and sparked a controversy. However, both Rahman and Saira rubbished the rumours and called them baseless.


6. Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth

Actor-filmmaker Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth officially announced their separation in 2022. The couple was granted divorce by the Chennai Family Welfare Court on November 27, 2024. The couple was married for 20 years and have two sons named Yatra and Linga.


7. Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik

Celebrated tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik ended their 14-year marriage on January 24 this year, citing differences due to their different careers. Sania retained custody of their son, Izaan.

8. Kunal Kapur

Celebrated chef Kunal Kapoor filed for divorce from his wife on grounds of cruelty. The Delhi High Court granted divorce to Kunal in April, saying that his wife’s “conduct towards him was devoid of dignity and empathy.”

9. Arjun Kapoor and Malaika Arora

Actors Arjun Kapoor and Malaika Arora parted ways after dating for 5 years. The couple was one of the most talked-about Bollywood celebrity couples. They started dating in 2018, a year after Malaika’s divorce from Arbaaz Khan in 2017.
