Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain could bring some relief from hot and sultry conditions with the southwest monsoon covering the rest of Odisha during the next 3 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD said on Saturday.
“Conditions are favourable for further advance of monsoon into some more parts Madhya Pradesh, remaining parts of Vidarbha, Andhra Pradesh and northwest Bay of Bengal, some more parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha, some more parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar and northeast Uttar Pradesh during next 2-3 days,” the regional centre said in its mid-day bulletin.
The MeT office has forecast fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the next 5 days. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal from June 18 to 20. Odisha is expected to experience heavy rain on June 18 and again during June 20-22.
According to the forecast, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj till 8,30 am on Sunday (June 19). Yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning has been issued for Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Cuttack with light to moderate rain in North interior Odisha and a few places in the remaining districts of the state during this period.
Heavy rainfall is likely to lash one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi and Kandhamal on June 20 and a few places in Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara Gajapati and Ganjam, the following day.
The IMD has also issued yellow warning for heavy rainfall for one or two places in Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Bargarh and, Bhadrak on June 22.
