Yellow Warning: Odisha To Experience Rain, Thunderstorm & Gusty Wind For 2 Days

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places in 13 districts of Odisha till 8.30 am on Monday.

The districts that are likely to be affected are Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh and Khurda. Yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning has also been issued for remaining districts of the state.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Boudh and at one or two places in the rest of Odisha during this period.

The yellow warning continues for the next two days.

On March 27, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely at one or two in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar. Light to moderate rain or thundershower may also occur at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada and Balangir.

In the subsequent 24 hours, thunderstorm with lightning is likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. The MeT office has also forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower at one or two places in coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Deogarh, Sundargarh and Kalahandi during this period.

Costal districts and some places in South Odisha will continue to experience rain for the next two days. There will be no large change in the day temperature during the next 4-5 days, it added.
