New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Reliance Group chief Anil Ambani for questioning in connection with loans given by the crisis-hit Yes Bank, officials said on Monday.
Also, other Reliance Group officials will be summoned for questioning later this week, they added.
However, Ambani has cited health reasons and sought more time to appear before ED officials in Mumbai.
Last week, Reliance Group had issued a statement denying any wrongdoing in its transactions with Yes Bank. “Reliance Group states it has NIL direct or indirect exposure to Rana Kapoor, former CEO of YES Bank, or his wife or daughters, or any entities controlled by Rana Kapoor or his family. Reliance Group says its entire exposure to Yes Bank is fully secured and transacted in the ordinary course of business,” the statement said.
In a related development, CBI has filed a second case against Kapoor and his wife Bindu Kapoor within a week following the Yes Bank crisis.
The fresh case pertains to Ms Kapoor’s purchase of a property in a prime location in Delhi.
Notably, Yes Bank customers have been facing a tough time in accessing internet banking, using payment via UPI and withdrawing money from ATMs after the RBI imposed a moratorium and capped withdrawals at Rs 50,000 a month.
