New Delhi: An IndiGo flight from Kuwait to Delhi had to be diverted to Ahmedabad airport on Friday due to a bomb threat on board.
According to officials, a crew member discovered a hijack and bomb threat written on a tissue paper on board and alerted the pilots. The aircraft landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport around 6.40 am with 180 people, including crew members, on board. The handwritten note, which was handed over to the police, claimed there was a bomb inside the aircraft.
After being alerted, the pilot informed air traffic control, and the flight was diverted to Ahmedabad as a precautionary measure, as reported by India Today.
All passengers were safely evacuated after landing, and their luggage was screened thoroughly. Police, bomb disposal squads and dog squads conducted a thorough search of the aircraft. No suspicious object has been found on board, officials said.

An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Bagdogra in West Bengal was diverted to Lucknow a week ago after a major security threat was reported during boarding. The aircraft landed safely at Lucknow Airport, where all passengers were evacuated and security agencies carried out a thorough inspection.
The airline grounded two flights on the same day following bomb threats last month. An IndiGo flight from Madinah to Hyderabad was forced to make an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport on December 4 after a passenger claimed he was carrying a bomb. Hours later, another IndiGo flight operating on the Sharjah-Hyderabad route was diverted to Mumbai after the airline received an email threatening to blow up the aircraft if it was allowed to land at its scheduled destination.
