Keonjhar: Celebration of “Kumar Purnima” ended on a tragic note for a young girl after she accidentally came in contact with a live electricity wire and died in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Saturday.
According to sources, Rashmita Jena of Shailang village under Ghasipura police limits in the district was in a joyful mood since morning for celebrating Kumar Purnima festival. She was making arrangements for a grand celebration with her friends in her house.
She had completed making all arrangements including flowers, puja materials and food for prasad by 2 pm. While checking the lights and music box to verify that everything was working perfectly, she accidentally touched a live electric wire.
As Rashmita fell unconscious with a loud cry, her family members rushed to her. They immediately took her to the sub-divisional hospital at Anandpur. But the doctors declared her brought dead.
On being informed, police went to the hospital and sent the body for post-mortem. They have registered a case of unnatural death and started investigation.
