Puri: In a shocking incident, a young man was allegedly abducted from Banakhandi area near Konark in Odisha’s Puri district.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place near a petrol pump on the main road between Konark and Nimapada on Tuesday night.
The youth, identified as Joy Chakraborty, was returning to Bhubaneswar from Konark along with his friend in a car when he was abducted.
Two youths, who had reportedly been following them in a vehicle, allegedly intercepted their car and abducted Joy Chakraborty near the petrol pump in Banakhandi. His friend immediately informed the police about the incident.
The Konark police and the Additional SP of Puri district are actively investigating the incident. Initial reports suggest that the abduction may be related to a financial transaction, though the exact motive and identities of the perpetrators remain unclear.
Police have urged people having any information about the incident or the whereabouts of the victim to come forward and assist the investigation. The police have increased patrolling in the area to prevent any further such incidents.
