Malkangiri: Amid high drama, a man allegedly attempted suicide by climbing a mobile tower at Singarajkonda village in Malkangiri district, on Saturday morning.
The youth, identified as a resident of Undrukonda village, stayed atop the tower for quite som
e time, sparking panic among the residents of the village, located under the jurisdiction of Padia police station.
After receiving information from villagers, a fire service team rushed to the scene. The rescue team engaged the man, aged around 30 years, in calm conversation, and persuaded him to descend safely. After sustained efforts, he was brought down without sustaining any injuries.
While the exact motive behind the suicide attempt is yet to be ascertained, preliminary information indicated that the move could be a fallout of love-related issues.
Officials said said the man is currently safe and necessary steps are being taken for his safety.
