Baripada: Father and girlfriend of Sachin Sahu, a House Surgeon who was found hanging in his hostel room at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital at Odisha’s Baripada town on September 22 evening, were interrogated by police in connection with his death.
According to sources, SDPO of Baripada Sadar Circle Sujit Pradhan interrogated the duo on Saturday. The laptop and mobile phone of Sachin’s girlfriend were also seized for the purpose by police. Sachin had made the last call to her.
After police registered a case of unnatural death, Sachin’s father Gyanendra Sahu filed a complaint with Baripada Sadar police, claiming that they know the reason behind the alleged suicide. Sachin was reportedly going steady with a girl, an MBBS student of the college, for the last five years and the families were aware of their relationship.
Reports said that his female friend had admitted to police about having had a fight with Sachin, but expressed shock that he could take the extreme step over the petty matter.
Other friends of Sachin will be questioned will required, said Baripada Sadar police station IIC Madhumita Mohanty.
Sachin, a native of Keonjhar district, had shut himself in his room after returning from duty on the fateful afternoon. As he did not open the door for a long time, his friends knocked on it many times. When they got no response, they broke open the door and found him hanging. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
