Koraput: A young police officer’s timely donation of blood saved the life of a patient in Jeypore of the district on Tuesday.
According to sources, one Alok Bisoi of Lima village came to Jeypore police station and sought help to save the life of his uncle Rajeswar Bisoi who was admitted in a serious condition in district headquarters hospital (DHH).
Alok told the police personnel that his uncle was suffering from jaundice and sickle cell disease. After he was admitted to the DHH, the doctors said Rajeswar urgently needed blood to survive before they can go for the treatment. Since Alok did not have any source to arrange the blood matching his uncle’s blood group, he approached the police.
On coming to know the urgency of the matter, young sub-inspector of the police station Sidhanta Kumar Behera went to donate his blood to Rajeswar in the DHH.
After transfusion of blood, the patient had recovered from critical stage and his condition was relatively better, the doctors of the hospital said.
