Puri: A young tourist from Madhya Pradesh drowned while taking bath in sea in Odisha’s Puri on Monday.
As per reports, around 40 tourists including a family of five members had come for darshan in Jagannath temple in Puri. After offering puja in the temple, they went to Chandrabhaga beach under Marine police station.
Some of them went to sea to have a bath. While bathing with his family members, the youth was dragged by a strong current into deep water. Four other members of the family including a child managed to come back to the shore.
On being informed, a police team went to the beach. With the help of life guards and others, they found the youth’s body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem.
The deceased was identified as 18-year-old Sudam Prasad Shah. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
