Bhubaneswar: Body of a young woman was found hanging inside a flat at Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as identified as Jyotirekha Parida (23) of Ganjam district and she was staying her alleged live-in partner Priyaranjan Patra at an outhouse on premises of an apartment under Khandagiri police limits for the last few days.
Patra is currently not traceable, police said.
Khandagiri police seized the body after her parents arrived in Bhubaneswar from Damanjodi this morning and sent it to Capital Hospital for autopsy.
Alleging foul play in her death, the girl’s family claimed that the two were married. “She was studying MCA in Berhampur. After completion of the course, she returned her home in Damanjodi. Priyaranjan claimed that he was married to her before a notary. She forcefully took her and his family also assaulted her physically. A few days ago, she came back to Damanjodi. For her safety, I relocated her to Bhawanipatna. However, Priyaranjan again took her back to Bhubaneswar,” Jyotirekha’s father alleged.
On the basis of the family’s complaint, police have launched a manhunt to nab the partner of the young girl, source added.
