Kanas: A youth was arrested by police for allegedly attacking the
tehsildar of Kanas block in Puri district on Saturday.
The accused was identified as Babuli Patra, a resident of Chandapada
village in the district.
Babuli, along with some villagers had gone to tehsildar Sanjay
Pratihari’s office over delay in allotment of land patta. In no time,
a heated argument ensued between the tehsildar and villagers. Irked
over which, Babuli attacked Pratihari, additional tehsildar Sahadev
Sahoo and some officials.
Later, other employees caught hold of Babuli, who was in an inebriated
state, and handed him over to police.
Police have started the investigation on basis of the CCTV cameras
installed in the tehsildar’s office. The youth was being interrogated.
