Youth Arrested For Duping Job Aspirants Of Rs 25 Lakh In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested a youth for allegedly duping several job aspirants in Bhubaneswar of Rs 25 lakh by promising them employment.

As per reports, the youth, identified as Debabrata Palai of Krushnapur village under Rairangpur block in Mayurbhanj district, had opened a consultancy firm near Hanspal in Bhubaneswar.

He used to take huge amount of money from unemployed youths by assuring them employment in different government and private institutions. While he had taken Rs 13 lakh from 3 persons for police job, a girl had given Rs 50,000 for a job in a hospital. But he failed to provide any job to them.

One such youth from Angul had given Rs 3.5 lakh to Palai for his selection in an examination conducted for the post of police constable. But he did not qualify in the examination. When his father Raj Kishore Pradhan confronted Palai and asked him to return the money, the latter did not comply and delayed in returning the amount.

Suspecting that his son was cheated, Pradhan filed a complaint at Mancheswar police station. After registering the case, the police came to know about other youths duped by Palai during investigation.

On coming to know about police case, Palai had fled to his village. But police managed to trace him and arrested him from his village in Mayurbhanj. They are investigating involvement of others in the racket.
