Kandhamal: Police on Wednesday arrested a youth for raping and killing a minor girl, whose body was recovered in a water tank at Katedikia village in Kandhamal on March 16.
The accused has been identified as Sumanta Diggal.
Based on a statement by some locals, who had seen the girl with Diggal, police arrested him. Diggal confessed to his crime during interrogation.
The minor girl’s body was recovered from a water tank in Katedikia village. Police had launched a manhunt to nab the accused. According to sources, Diggal killed the girl after he came to know that she was pregnant.
