Jajpur: Police have arrested a youth for allegedly molesting two minor girls in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
According to sources, the two girls, who are students of Class I, were playing near their house in Sukuranig village under Kaliapani police station in the district when the accused, identified as Ratnakar Dehury of the same village approached them.
He lured the minor girls on some pretext and took them to a pond on the outskirts of the village. Taking advantage of the deserted place at the time, he assaulted the girls.
After some time, some villagers found the girls crying near the pond and informed their families. Later, the families took the girls homes. As the girls told their parents about the incident, they filed complaints at Kaliapani police station.
The police went to the village and arrested Ratnakar from his house. They also sent the two girls to local hospital for medical examination. After registering a case on the basis of the complaints, the police forwarded the accused to court on Sunday.
