Youth Beaten To Death With Cricket Bat In Odisha’s Sonepur

Sonepur: A youth was beaten to death with a cricket bat and another injured in Odisha’s Subarnapur district on Saturday.

As per reports, the incident took place at Menda village under Tarbha police station in the district. The accused met the victim, identified as Santosh Hati, on the banks of a pond near Kumbharpada of the village in the afternoon.

The accused confronted Santosh about an old issue and an argument ensued between them. Soon the argument escalated into heated exchange of words and exchange of blows. In a fit of rage, the accused hit Santosh’s head with the bat.

When a friend of Santosh tried to intervene, the accused hit him with the bat also. As Santosh fell down bleeding profusely from head and died on the spot, the accused fled.

On being informed, a team from Tarbha police station went to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. They have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the victim, whose identity has not been confirmed.
